Built on the track. Ready for the gate. The new Ducati Desmo450 MX combines a powerful 450cc desmodromic engine, lightweight aluminium chassis and advanced traction control to bring precision, confidence and unmistakable Ducati character to every lap.
Ducati’s first motocross bike takes another step forward. Shaped by racetrack experience and rider feedback, the 2027 Desmo450 MX gains predictive maintenance, new Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tyres, 13/51 final gearing, updated ergonomics and fresh graphics – all built around the desmodromic 450 engine, the lightweight aluminium frame and Ducati’s dedicated MX electronics.
Refined for Control: Chassis, Ergonomics and Graphics
For 2027 the Desmo450 MX gets a new gear pedal tip for natural, precise shifts and a brake pedal tip with a larger contact area for extra stability and control. The ergonomics are designed to make it easier for the rider to move around and stay in command of the bike, while a wider 40 mm fuel cap makes refuelling at the track quicker.
Showa suspension features a dedicated setup with a stiffer 50 N/mm rear shock spring and new forged triple clamps with a 22 mm offset, developed to handle the demands of North American tracks.
Braking comes from Brembo callipers and master cylinders with Galfer discs, 260 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear, and new Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tyres deliver grip and performance on every type of ground.
New graphics with black lettering give the bike a more aggressive look, underlining its racing identity and making it instantly recognisable.
High-Performance Desmo450 Single-Cylinder
The beating heart of the Desmo450 MX is its 449.6 cc single-cylinder four-stroke with desmodromic, twin-camshaft, four-valve timing, producing 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 53.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. With the limiter set at 11,900 rpm, the engine revs further between shifts, helping riders get away fast and chase the holeshot.
Bore and stroke of 96 x 62.1 mm allow for large valves: 40 mm titanium intake valves and 33 mm sodium-filled steel exhaust valves for better heat dissipation. A hydraulic chain tensioner gives more precise operation than a conventional mechanical one, and magnesium alternator, head and clutch covers help save weight.
New for 2027, the rear sprocket goes from 49 to 51 teeth, sending more torque to the rear wheel for sharper drive out of corners and stronger acceleration from low speeds.
MotoGP-Derived Electronics and Predictive Maintenance
Drawing on its MotoGP and Superbike experience, Ducati has given the Desmo450 MX a true traction control system. Ducati Traction Control (DTC) cuts power based on actual rear wheel slip for fast, smooth and effective intervention, automatically switches itself off over jumps, and can be overridden for a few moments with a light pull of the clutch lever when the rider wants every bit of performance. DTC offers four levels of intervention.
Launch Control and Engine Brake Control can also be set to different levels and linked to two Riding Modes, while the gearbox features a Quickshifter for upshifts. With the WiFi connectivity unit, available as an accessory, riders can use the Ducati X-Link app to customise the Riding Modes, keep track of servicing and check the bike’s status.
New for 2027 and derived from MotoGP, predictive maintenance calculates service intervals based on how hard the engine is used. Servicing is split into a MID Service (piston replacement and valve clearance check) and a FULL Service (complete engine overhaul), with both intervals adapting to wear and riding conditions.
